
Pictured above is ‘Old Girl’ - she’s my own vehicle and most of what you see implemented on customer builds gets tested out on her first (take a look at those gorgeous LED headlights and subtle, combined sidelight / indicators for a simple, uncluttered front end).
Below is my 1950 80” Land Rover which was fully rebuilt a year ago. Under my stewardship it won Best 4x4 and Car of the Show at the 2024 Brisbane All British Day. More recently it was invited to participate in the 2025 Noosa Concours d’Elegance.
And below, the ‘shop truck’. With an incredibly rusty chassis, I bought this Land Rover on account of it’s near perfect bodywork. The plan was to break it for parts but when it came to the crunch I just couldn’t do it. What followed was a ‘patina’ restoration with the aim of preserving the exterior whilst renewing or rebuilding just about everything else. Whilst the tray back may not be the prettiest of Land Rovers, it is one of the most charming and hugely practical.
UPDATE: Those big plans for 2024 came to fruition with the addition of a fully rebuilt Rover V8 engine. I have fitted many Rover V8’s to Series Land Rovers but this one was particularly challenging owing to it being a 6-cylinder style chassis and bulkhead. Many people will tell you it is easier to convert a 6-cylinder but I now know differently!
Below is ‘The Patina Build’. This Land Rover was stripped down to the bare chassis and rebuilt using a combination of new and refurbished components. The client was keen to preserve the exterior aesthetic so only the more significant body damage was repaired and panels that required repainting such as the bulkhead and radiator panel (which were sandblasted) were colour-matched to blend with the original faded paintwork.
